Responding to Your Calling: Discovering Your Purpose

Did you know you are chosen? "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" 1 Peter 2:9 http://bit.ly/2UQqR28. Therefore I will call you Chosen.

Chosen, at some point in our lives we have all felt in some way or another that there is something more to our lives than we are experiencing now. You may even feel as though you are merely existing and not truly living and may be, right now, intensely searching for something beyond yourself- something bigger, something greater, searching for a greater meaning to life. I can relate, as I have also walked the road of trying to find my own purpose in this life, attempting to fill the gut-wrenching emptiness with all sorts of things. But one glorious day, my life changed, I had a powerful and transformational encounter with the true and living God – Jesus Christ who has brought so much meaning and depth to my life.  Through this blog, my intention is to help you to fill your own voids and discover your God given purpose and also to live in it.

The article entitled What is God’s Purpose for your Life (And How You Can Find It) http://bit.ly/2ZvjwZ0 explores six ways to recognize that you may not be living in your purpose and six ways to begin living the life God intends for you to live. It highlights different ways one may feel if you are not living a purpose filled life and ways to draw closer to God who will reveal the reason you were created.

In trying to find your purpose, it is important to recognise that your purpose extends beyond your life on earth. Paul highlights in Colossians 3:2  that we should set our affection on things above, not on things on the earth http://bit.ly/Col3-2 In other words, our mindset should be kingdom bound and not earthly bound.

If you have not figured it out yet, in order to know your purpose, you must know Jesus; you must become a follower of Christ – A Christian.

According to Dictionary.com a Christian is defined as “a person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ”. Following Christ will ultimately reveal our purpose as the Bible states in Philippians 1:6 KJV “Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” http://bit.ly/Philippians1-6The article entitled How To Become A Christian http://bit.ly/2UClfYY presents instructions from the Bible on how to do just that, become a Christian.

Chosen, the three initial steps to become a Christian and discover your purpose are as follows:
1.       Repent – Let God know that we are truly sorry for our sins http://bit.ly/Acts3-19
2.       Be Baptized in the name of Jesus – Get water baptized in Jesus’ name http://bit.ly/Gal3-27
3.       Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost – Allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in you http://bit.ly/Eph5-18

This is all summed up in Acts 2:38 which says “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” http://bit.ly/Acts2-38

Chosen, there is much more we should do to walk in our purpose but this is the start.

Be blessed and be a blessing. Please subscribe to this blog for more, share this article and leave a comment.
