Sharpening The Saw

Image
Hi Friends! I know, I know it’s been a long while, three months to be exact. Who would have thought that I would have stayed away so long from you? However, life happens. A bit of housekeeping before we jump into today’s topic; I had promised that I would do two things soon and I am happy to report that I did. I wrote out my life’s mission and vision statements and I apologized to the cousin I was malicing (let’s call it what it really was). See, I’m a woman of my word and I feel so much better for it, yay me 😊 Now, what I want to explore with you today is the importance of leading a synergistic life or as the title states Sharpening the Saw . This article was inspired by Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People that I read earlier this year. By the way, that is one of my recommended reads. My interpretation of Sharpening the Saw is that we should constantly be working on four core aspects of our being; body, mind, heart and soul. I use the term synergy ...

Forgiveness: I Let Go Of A Long Held Grudge

Image
Hello dear friends! This time around I’d like to share with you an experience I had and how the power of God worked in that situation. I have a family member that I didn’t speak to for a number of years. Prior to that situation we had a fairly good relationship. Then we had a brawl about something that was important to me. And since then, we didn’t speak to each other for about two years. However, with the help of another family member we eventually made up. Fast forward a couple years later and we were at a similar place to not speaking to each other again. No, there was no brawl this time, lol. I just decided that a relationship with that person would be too toxic for me and given our rocky past; decided to ‘cut them off’. What had happened this time is that I found the person to be meddling too much in my immediate family life and to me it was actually a repeat of past situations. I didn’t believe this was just an issue to be resolved but rather a defect in their personality a...

How I Get All I Need To Do Done And Not Drive Myself Crazy

Image
Hello Chosen! For the past few weeks I realize that I have been feeling a bit stressed with the totality of all that goes on in my life. At present, the main themes in my life are my Christianity and church, my job, personal development activities and a few volunteer activities. Important, but not too time consuming are family based activities and social activities. Even though I haven’t listed the specific tasks, I’m not sure if that seems a lot to you or just a little, but for me it’s enough to keep me on my toes. So it does feel a bit overwhelming at times. And although I’m writing this to share with you, it’s very much for me also to air out my thoughts and remind myself of the strategy I know that works for me and perhaps can work for you too. (Courtesy of: psychologytoday.com) Before we get into the approach, let me just say we firstly need to know who we are and whose we are. Jesus was fully man here on earth so he went through the same things we go through, but ...

Healthy Relationships

Image
Hello Hello my Chosen friends! It’s been a while. The truth is I’ve been busy with all sorts of things but I have to remember my number one priority, which is kingdom work, and hence I am back with you. One of those things that can keep us busy sometimes is our relationships. The type of relationship may vary, but one thing they all have in common is that they take up our time. Relationships are important and since they do take up a significant portion of our lives it’s essential that they are healthy. For now, we’ll discuss relationships in general and perhaps later we can talk about some specific types. In the body of Christ, we are all members of one family; just as a natural body with it’s different parts. Your limbs, your head, your torso, your organs are different parts that may make up your body and are similar to all of us that comprise the body of Christ. Therefore, the things we do affect other members of the body. If one member eats right and exercises that will have...

Called To Witness

Image
Hello friends, welcome back; I missed you guys. A few persons comment on the posts and most prefer to comment directly in a conversation with me and I appreciate it all. It’s important to remember that we are not in this walk alone so we do have each other to lean on. In the same breath of community spirit, we’ll briefly explore witnessing. And when I say witnessing, I’m not referring to a specific denomination; so I’m happy we cleared the air on that one. According to allaboutgod.com , Christian Witnessing is “merely sharing our heartfelt faith in Christ – what he’s personally done to change our individual lives”. All Christians should be witnesses and not just a selected few. Yes, we are given different gifts of the spirit (which we can talk about another time) but all would have experienced a certain change upon conversion and are required to share it; and you don’t have to be the best speaker, just start where you are. Read the following scriptures http://bit.ly/1Cor2-1 ...

When That Co-Worker Relationship Isn’t So Great

Image
Would you look what happened here? We’ve made it to June; bless the Lord! Welcome Chosen friends! I was told I wasn’t quite successful in making the last article not as long. * tears *. So let’s jump right into this one. Throughout our discussion I will make reference to a particular situation I had that’s applicable. All relationships don’t go as smoothly as we had them planned in our minds at inception; assuming that we don’t plan on having any hostile relationships. Speaking specifically about work relations, sometimes tension runs as high as JPS power cables. This is certainly unhealthy; after all, most of us spend most of our lives at work. Great, if majority of our work relationships aren’t like this but what do we do when we find ourselves caught up between the poles of these JPS cables with a co-worker? (Courtesy of: inc.com) I’ll share with you 8 things which I did and now recommend in such a situation: 1.        P...

Getting Through Hard Times

Image
Isn’t it great that we made it through another week? No really, isn’t it? We could have ceased to exist but no, we are here, still living to hopefully fulfil God’s purpose in our lives. And because you have received that gift, congratulations Chosen ! Of course, life isn’t always smooth, or as I mentioned the last time; chocolate and rainbows, but nonetheless life is a gift. We all go through hard times, whether it may be financial, spiritual, family-related, career-related, health-related, relationship-related, friendship-related, or even something I haven’t thought of, we all have our challenges in life. It may seem like some people don’t experience issues but they do. Have you ever asked them? Whether they choose to share or not, most times their problems are valid. Also, bear in mind that each of us are built differently so what you may be able to handle easily another person may not and vice versa. So, just as how we wouldn’t like for someone else to invalidate our issues, w...
